Fujinon XC 50-230mm F/4.5-6.7 OIS II

Fujinon XC 50-230mm F/4.5-6.7 OIS II (informations on eGlobalCentral or Amazon)

Date of purchase: November 2017
Reseller: eGlobalCentral.fr (171,99€ then).

The low price of this lens made me buy it despite being part of the XC line. The XC range is not Fujinon’s expert range. However, the lenses of this range are still very well made and this one is no exception to the rule.

Before I started, I watched a few articles about it and videos on Youtube. I was no longer worried about the quality so go!

The idea was to constitute with the 18-55mm of a wide set of zoom allowing me to cover a wide focal range. I plan to take advantage of the outputs with my two zooms to find the fixed focal lengths in which to invest later. It is actually not easy to “take the plunge” when you see the price (even at eGlobalCentral or Amazon) of fuji fixed lenses.

In détails

Despite the XC range, the sharpness is “relatively” sharp and precise. And I say “relatively” to be correct. It is clear that this is not the best, but you have to know how to put it into perspective in relation to the price you put there.

Let’s talk about the price elsewhere, The case is completely plastic, including the rings. It remains solid, but that will require attention. Especially since deployed, it is particularly long and it may inadvertently hit an angle …

The XC 50-230, fully extended and with the sun visor

This lens has no aperture ring requiring you to go through the menu or the dial to adjust it. Moreover, you will understand, with an aperture ranging from 4.5 to 6.7 fully deployed, this objective will be valid mainly outdoors.

OIS : Means “Optical Image Stabilization”
